Evanston speaks! giving voice to our youth through slam poetry
Louder Than a Bomb 2017 bout 1 individual and group pieceThis year was phenomenal for our district 65 middle school poets. We now have Chute, Haven, King Arts participating. Next year we will be joined by Nichols and Bessie Rhodes. This may be the only middle school district in the area with such a presence at the annual Louder than a Bomb festival. Thanks to our sponsors at Foundation 65, our teens in Evanston have a tremendous platform to share their voice. Chute Middle School had the greatest success yet at this year's festival. Our second bout group piece received a standing ovation and the highest group score on Saturday, February 18. Remember the point is not the points, the point is the poetry. Here are a few videos from this year's bouts from Chute Middle School.

Louder than a bomb 2016 #poeticlicenseThis is our fifth year participating in the Louder than a Bomb poetry slam. The point is not the points, the point is the poetry. Saturday February 20, 2016, Chute Middle School slammed it up at Columbia College. We participated with LTAB giants Maine East and Bartlett High School. Our students did a tremendous job and we are really proud of them. Below you can watch our group piece.

2016 LTAB documentary by 8th grader jacob viceHaven and chute together! It was so fun and exciting to have Haven and Chute together for #LTAB2016 at Columbia College, downtown Chicago. At Friday's event students from both schools presented four individual poets along with one group poem. D65 students did such a terrific job. King Arts also participated in #LTAB 2016 and Nichols set to join next year. Maybe soon we can be seeing our very own E-town poetry slam...
